AASR Annual Conference

The Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) is hosting a large gathering of groups from the Asia-Pacific region, and the AASR has been invited to participate in the 2008 International Congress for the Study of Bible, Religion and Theology. This is a great opportunity for AASR members to gather and meet each other and those from the region.

Further information including a registration form and a list of participating groups can be found at the Website for the 2008 International SBL Meeting. Register now as a member affiliate!

If you want to register, download the Registration Form and fax to the SBL.

The Conference will be held at the Auckland University city campus, in the Engineering Building (Click here to see a map).

Registration opens at 1pm on Sunday 6 July in the Foyer of the Engineering Building followed by an opening ceremony (Powhiri) and reception. The Registration desk will be open during the length of the conference.

There will be a large book display and exhibition on site. Many book publishers will be present and often sell titles with excellent discounts.

The powhiri is the traditional Maori welcome ceremony which takes place usually when going onto a marae, which is the sacred courtyard in front of the meeting house.
